As peak season approaches, getting your team on and off the system efficiently is more important than ever. Here's everything you need to know to manage seasonal employee like a pro in Alkimii.
💡 Tip 1: Deactivate & Reactivate - Your Seasonal Staffing Secret Weapon
If you have team members who return season after season, you don't need to create a brand new profile each time. Alkimii's Deactivate/Activate feature lets you put a profile on hold and bring it back to life in just a few clicks. Perfect for students who are returning to work for the peak season.
To deactivate a profile, navigate to the employee's Profile Card, click the three vertical dots in the top right corner, and select Deactivate. You'll be prompted to confirm, and that's it - the profile is safely stored but removed from your active employee list.
When your seasonal employee'sare ready to return, simply head back to their profile and select Activate from the same menu. All their historical data, documents, and settings remain intact - no re-entering information required.
Please note: Deactivating employee's is only available to those who are billed by direct debit.

💡 Tip 2: Streamlined Onboarding & Offboarding for Seasonal Staff
Seasonal hiring moves fast and Alkimii's HR Automation module makes sure every new starter hits the ground running with the right documentation from day one. Using Starter Packs, you can automatically send new seasonal hires everything they need to complete before their first shift - contracts, handbooks, declarations and more. A consistent onboarding experience means fewer compliance gaps, even when you're hiring at speed.
Head to HR Automation → Packs, create a pack with the category set to Starter Pack, and assign the relevant forms and sites. From that point on, every new hire at that site can receive their pack.
When the season winds down, Alkimii makes offboarding just as seamless. Leaver Packs allow you to build a structured offboarding workflow - including exit interview forms and leaving reason selections - so nothing falls through the cracks when a seasonal team member moves on. You can even configure specific leaving reasons in App Settings to reflect seasonal departures, keeping your data clean and your reporting accurate.
🔑 Pro tip: Set up both your Starter and Leaver Packs before the season begins so the process is fully automated from first day to last.

Here's how it works:
- Navigate to employeeProfiles → ATS in the top banner.
- You'll see a list of applicants with a Pending status pulled directly from your ATS.
- Click on the applicant, select Onboard, review and amend their details, then hit Save.
- A complete employeeprofile is instantly generated and any documents submitted through the ATS automatically appear in the Documents section of their profile.

💡 Tip 4: Stay Compliant with AI Compliance (Beta)
Seasonal hiring often means onboarding at pace and that's exactly when compliance gaps tend to sneak in. Alkimii's AI Compliance feature (currently in Beta) takes the pressure off by automatically identifying any missing documents or incomplete profile information, and sending a tailored pack directly to the employee to fill the gaps.
To use it, open the employeemember's Profile Card, click the three vertical dots, and select Make Compliant. Alkimii will scan their profile in the background and give you two options:
- Complete compliance dashboard - sends a targeted pack based only on missing compliance items.
- All missing information - captures any outstanding profile details too.
You even have the flexibility to select the most up-to-date version of any document (e.g. a newly revised employee handbook) rather than the original one sent at onboarding. Once the employee completes the pack, their profile updates automatically.
