Work Experience Contract (FAQ)

This article will provide the most frequently asked questions about the Work Experience Contract and Interns employed in your hotel.

• Can I roster employees on this contract type?

Yes, you will be able to roster employees the same as any other contract type.

• Will Employees on Work Experience Contracts appear on the Evac List?

Yes, as long as they have been registered on the clock and are clocking in and out, they will appear on the Evac List. 

• Will Employees on Work Experience Contracts appear on the Payroll Export?

No, this contract type is automatically excluded from the payroll system.

• Can employees on Work Experience Contracts be invited to MyAlkimii?

Yes, employees can still be invited to the MyAlkimii App as normal. 

• Can I register these employees on the clock? Will they be able to clock in using Contactless Clocking? 

Yes, interns can be registered on the clock and clock in on the MyAlkimii App which will link to their shifts. 

• Can I send HR packs to employees on Work Experience Contracts? 

Yes, you can still send HR Packs which will be visible in their staff documents similar to all other contract types.

There is one fundamental change, this contract type will NOT be linked to the HR Dashboard. Employees on Intern Contracts will be included in your Profile, Onboarding and Compulsory Compliance percentages. 

• Do Intern employees accrue Holidays/ Public Holiday Entitlements in Alkimii?

Employees who are on the Work Experience contract type will NOT accrue Holidays or Public Holidays. 

• Will these employees be included in Employee Reports?

No, we have created a Work Experience Report which will give details of all current employees on Work Experience contracts within the property. 

• What happens if we decide to employ the Intern after their Work Experience is over? 

After the Intern has completed their placement, they will be employed on another contract within the property. Their profile will be set as a leaver and you will need to follow the process for restarting an employee on a new contract.   

• Can a salary/rate of pay be entered in the Staff Profile of an Intern on this contract type? 

No, when creating a Work Experience Contract Type, Alkimii will automatically remove the ability to add pay rates as the Intern will be excluded from the payroll system. No cost will be captured for an Intern.
