How do you set shifts to pay either time and a half, double or Triple time during the Christmas period?

Maximize Employee Rewards: Configuring Time and a Half, Double, or Triple Time Pay During the Christmas Period

As the holiday season approaches, making sure your workforce is compensated fairly and incentivised appropriately becomes essential. With teams covering Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, St Stephen’s Day/Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, you need a clear, compliant way to recognise their contribution while keeping payroll under control.

In this article, we’ll show you how to configure shifts in Alkimii so hours worked on key festive dates are paid at time and a half, double time or triple time. Usually, these shift types are set for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, St Stephen’s Day/Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, so the dropdown to add these options will only be visible on these days.

  • Navigate to "Roster" using the mega menu
  • Within this view, you can proceed to create your shifts as normal for the week.

  • On 24th, 25th and 26th December and 1st January, an additional field will appear in the shift view beneath the additional rate option.

  • You can select the most suitable from the rate multiplier drop-down list
    • Normal
    • Time and a half (x1.5)
    • Double Time (x2)
    • Triple Time (x3)
  • If you have created the shifts using pre-sets, you can still apply the rate multiplier to the shifts on the 24th, 25th, 26th Dec and 1st Jan. Simply click on the shift within the roster and select from the rate options.
  • Once the option has been selected and the shift has been saved, you will see the multiple appear beside this shift name. Similarly, in the Week Costs screen, you will be able to see a green bubble beside the shift with the multiplier rate applied.

Please Note

If shifts are rostered as a supervisor rate shift, a night shift or a Sunday rate it will pay the hours worked minus breaks at Time & half, Double or Triple the applicable pay rate if you use the rate multiplier.
