How is the Public Holiday paid, if my casual, part-time or full-time variable employee worked on the day?

This article will show you how the Public Holiday is paid out for a casual, part-time or full-time variable employee who has worked a shift on the public holiday if the accrual rule is set up as "Pay last worked shift at the same rate".

A casual, part-time or full-time variable contract is used for employees which are paid based on a variable hourly rate.

If a casual, part-time or full-time variable employee has worked on the day of the Public Holiday, they will get paid for that shift along with a monetary equivalent of their last worked shift.

The last shift worked may have been paid at a Sunday rate or Supervisor rate depending on the employee so please take this into account.

A casual worker is working a 7-hour shift on the day of the Public Holiday. They will be paid for this 7-hour shift along with the monetary equivalent of their last worked shift.
