Enable or Disable Off‑Site Clock In for Employees
How to manage and customise clock-in/out permissions to allow employees to clock in from any location (for example, remote, sales or shared services teams) and how to enable or disable that ability for individual employee profiles.
Where to find the setting
- Navigate to the employee’s Staff Profile.
- Open Employment > Rostering.
- Under Options, locate the "Clock In While Off Site" option.
How to enable off-site clock-in for an employee
- Open the employee’s Staff Profile.
- Go to Employment > Rostering.
- Under Options, switch the "Clock In While Off Site" option ON by clicking on it.
- The employee can now clock in and out from any location (location restrictions / geo-fencing will not block clocking).
How to disable off-site clock-in for an employee
- Open the employee’s Staff Profile.
- Go to Employment > Rostering.
- Under Options, switch the "Clock In While Off Site" toggle to OFF.
- The employee will again be subject to the normal location-based clock-in restrictions.
🔐 Restricted Access: Access to enable or disable the "Clock In While Off Site" setting is permission-based and should only be granted to authorised administrators or HR users. Users without this permission cannot update the setting and must contact an authorised user to make any changes on their behalf.
Typical use cases
- Remote or mobile teams (e.g., sales, marketing, shared services) who need to clock in using mobile devices while working offsite.
- Temporary trials for a small group before wider rollout.
Troubleshooting tips
- If you cannot see the "Clock In While Off Site" option in an employee’s profile, confirm that your user account has the permission to enable/disable this setting; contact an Alkimii administrator/ HR Team who manage these permissions.
- To restrict off-site clocking again, simply toggle the setting off in the employee’s Employment > Rostering options.
